उन्होंने कहा कि घटना की जांच शुरू कर दी गई है और खोज दल कांगो की नौसेना के सदस्य सैनिक की तलाश कर रहे हैं।
गांव के मुखिया ऑस्कर बराका मुगुवा के अनुसार, नौ बच्चों सहित 13 व्यक्तियों की कथित तौर पर हत्या कर दी गई।
सैनिक ने किन कारणों से गोली चलाई यह पता नहीं चल सका है। मुगुवा के अनुसार, सैनिक बच्चे को उसकी अनुपस्थिति में दफनाए जाने से परेशान था।

At least 13 people, including nine children, were killed when a soldier opened fire on people gathered to mourn his dead child in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo on Saturday night, the army and a local authority said on Sunday.
The incident occurred in Nyakova, a community near Lake Albert in the eastern Ituri region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Ituri army spokesman Jules Ngongo told by phone: “The soldiers started shooting at everyone in the area. Twelve people died.”
He said an investigation has been launched into the incident and search teams, members of the Congolese navy, are looking for the soldier.
Thirteen people, including nine children, were reportedly killed, according to village chief Oscar Baraka Muguwa.
It is not known what prompted the soldier to open fire. According to Muguva, the soldier was upset about the child being buried in his absence. The shooting incident took place in the fishing community of Nyakova in the eastern Ituri region. According to army spokesman Jules Ngongo, the father opened fire when he learned that his child, who reportedly died of natural causes on Thursday, had been buried before the soldier arrived. Ngongo claimed that the soldier’s two children were among those killed in the shooting.
