The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a list of illegitimate universities in India. Additionally, the UGC has called upon the higher education departments/chief secretaries of states and state governments to take proper action against fraudulent universities in India.

In an official letter directed to the heads of these institutions, the UGC Secretary stated, “I wish to notify you that your institution is included in the roster of fake universities since it is not registered under Section 2(f) or Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Consequently, it does not qualify as a ‘university.’ However, it operates a business of conferring degrees by distributing counterfeit credentials, deceiving unsuspecting students, and conducting its activities under the title of ‘university’ using your institution’s name. This has become a matter of concern as numerous students are falling prey to the fraudulent practices orchestrated by your institution.”

विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग (यूजीसी) ने भारत में अवैध विश्वविद्यालयों की एक सूची जारी की है। इसके अतिरिक्त, यूजीसी ने राज्यों और राज्य सरकारों के उच्च शिक्षा विभागों/मुख्य सचिवों से फर्जी शैक्षणिक संस्थानों के खिलाफ उचित कार्रवाई करने को कहा है।
इन संस्थानों के प्रमुखों को निर्देशित एक आधिकारिक पत्र में, यूजीसी सचिव ने कहा, “मैं आपको सूचित करना चाहता हूं कि आपका संस्थान फर्जी विश्वविद्यालयों की सूची में शामिल है क्योंकि यह धारा 2 (एफ) या धारा 3 के तहत पंजीकृत नहीं है। यूजीसी अधिनियम, 1956। नतीजतन, यह ‘विश्वविद्यालय’ के रूप में योग्य नहीं है। हालाँकि, यह नकली प्रमाणपत्र वितरित करके, बिना संदेह किए छात्रों को धोखा देकर और आपके संस्थान के नाम का उपयोग करके ‘विश्वविद्यालय’ के शीर्षक के तहत अपनी गतिविधियों का संचालन करके डिग्री प्रदान करने का व्यवसाय संचालित करता है। यह चिंता का विषय बन गया है।”
